"First City of Low-altitude Economy" Planned to Build in Shenzhen, China

At the Shenzhen Low-altitude Economy High-quality Development Conference on August 2, the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission issued the "Shenzhen Low-altitude Take-off and Landing Facilities High-quality Construction Plan (2024-2025)".

The main goal of the plan is that by the end of 2025, Shenzhen will build more than 1,000 low-altitude aircraft take-off and landing platforms, and open more than 300 routes, so as to achieve low-altitude flight service guarantee to reach the international advanced level. In addition, the plan also emphasizes the transformation and upgrading of existing helicopter landing and take-off fields, especially the adaptive transformation of eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft). At the same time, Shenzhen plans to build a hierarchical and well-structured low-altitude take-off and landing service system to support the development of the low-altitude economy in the future.

In 2023, Shenzhen will open 77 drone routes, build 73 new drone take-off and landing points, complete 610,000 cargo drone flights, consumer drones account for 70% of the global market share, industrial drones account for 50% of the global market share, and helicopter flights exceed 23,000 flights. It is planned that by 2025, the coverage rate of Shenzhen cities with open airspace suitable for drones will exceed 75%, and the total number of low-altitude commercial routes will exceed 1,000.

According to the plan, Shenzhen will also add more than 3,000 5G base stations and upgrade to support more than 5,000 5G-A base stations. In addition, more than 10 5G-A integration projects will be piloted in key areas such as low-altitude economy and smart transportation.
