Ho Chi Minh Takes Major Strides in Digital Evolution with DXCentre and Smart Traffic Solutions
Published: 2.5.2024
Ho Chi Minh City has unveiled its latest endeavor: the Digital Transformation Centre (DXCentre) with the initiative to support agencies, organizations, and enterprises in their digital pursuits towards the city's commitment to technological advancement. The primary goal of DXCentre is to explore, pilot, and disseminate digital technology products, leveraging data and digital technologies to enhance the city's digital services for both citizens and enterprises.
Strategically positioned at the forefront of Ho Chi Minh City's digital transformation agenda, DXCentre strategically deploys digital and data technologies to foster collaboration, mobilize resources, and cultivate a robust digital government. With its cutting-edge data center and transmission network, DXCentre ensures the safety of information while guiding stakeholders in the implementation of digital platforms, service development, and the creation of smart urban areas.
Ho Chi Minh City's ambition to lead Vietnam's digital transformation is the imperative to streamline administrative procedures by making them easily accessible online. With over 7,000 ICT businesses already thriving in the city, contributing significantly to an e-commerce value of USD 7.8 billion, Ho Chi Minh City is well-positioned to spearhead digital innovation nationally.
Looking ahead to 2030, Ho Chi Minh City is set on positioning itself as a healthcare hub within Vietnam and the ASEAN region. This ambitious vision includes establishing a medical ecosystem comprising 6,000 modern clinics and hospitals that integrate artificial intelligence (AI) in disease diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, the city aims to foster a thriving digital economy, anticipating substantial contributions to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by 2025 and 2030.
The establishment of DXCentre marks a significant milestone in Ho Chi Minh City's journey towards becoming a digital powerhouse. By prioritizing technology-driven solutions, collaboration, and strategic planning, DXCentre aims to accelerate the city's digital landscape, contributing to its vision of a progressive and digitally advanced future.
In parallel with its digital initiatives, Ho Chi Minh City is also making strides in transportation infrastructure. The development of a sophisticated smart traffic management and operation system aims to alleviate congestion and reduce accidents in the bustling southern economic hub.
A cornerstone of this effort is the smart traffic operation center, established in 2019, which has played a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of traffic monitoring and regulation. According to Doan Van Tan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City's Urban Traffic Management and Operations Centre, the city is investing in completing its transport system and major projects via the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) model, integrating digital platforms for improved traffic management.
The integration of transportation infrastructure progress with smart traffic solutions not only addresses immediate challenges but also lays the foundation for a technologically advanced and interconnected urban environment in Ho Chi Minh City.
