Marvell Establishes Additional Semiconductor Design Center in Vietnam
Published: 5.22.2024
Marvell Technology, a leading semiconductor solutions provider from the United States, has announced the opening of a new design center in Da Nang, Vietnam, with plans to expand further by establishing an additional high-tech design and lab center in Ho Chi Minh City.
CEO Matt Murphy expressed enthusiasm over the progress made since announcing the plan last year, including integrating top technical talents and expanding their design center network. Murphy highlighted Vietnam's rapid emergence as a semiconductor innovation hub and Marvell's commitment to contributing to this transformation.
Headquartered in California, Marvell Technology focuses on data infrastructure semiconductor solutions. The new Da Nang design center aims to develop world-class integrated circuit design capabilities in Vietnam, complementing Marvell's existing centers in Ho Chi Minh City.
The new Ho Chi Minh City design center, set to open next year, along with other technical facilities, will concentrate on high-speed data center optical connectivity, storage, mixed-signal, and analog semiconductor technologies. These centers are critical for developing infrastructure to meet increasing AI and cloud data center performance and energy demands.
According to Marvell's senior VP for Cloud Optics, Dr. Loi Nguyen, Marvell is dedicated to attracting and developing top engineering talents in Vietnam to support its design centers, thereby promoting the growth of Vietnam's semiconductor community.
At the US-Vietnam Investment and Innovation Summit during President Joe Biden's visit to Hanoi last year, Marvell committed to increasing its workforce in Vietnam by 50% over the next three years. Currently, Marvell Vietnam has nearly 400 engineers, a significant increase from the 300 engineers in 2023.
This expansion signifies Marvell's strategic investment in Vietnam as a pivotal location for their semiconductor R&D and design efforts.
