Microchip Low Power Chips
Microchip Technology Inc. Low-power IC Multi-year battery life for wireless connectivity
Low-power applications represent a significant portion of the future market for embedded systems. Every year, more designers are required to make designs portable, wireless and energy efficient. As the brain of the application, the MCU typically consumes the most power and has the most control over the system power consumption. With an ultra low-power MCU and an 802.15.4 radio in a compact footprint, the SAM R30 System-in-Package (SiP) delivers multi-year battery life for connected devices. Based on the most energy-efficient ARM®-based architecture, the SAM R30 adds Microchip’s MiWi™ network protocol stack to simplify point-to-point or star networking in sub-Ghz frequency bands.
Sensing and security peripherals are combined with advanced power management features which enable the SAM R30 to wake from GPIO or serial communication whilst drawing less than 500 nA.
The SAM R30 is supported by the XPRO eco system enabling connectivity to multiple wing boards for various sensors, displays and input options.
